Folks I just mounted a scope on my Savage 24D, series P using the gun-guide adapter...worked perfectly!!!!! Bought ammo 22 win mag 40gr Winchester at Cabelas free shipping, and would like to add an ammo sling. I have seen some here. I can purchase a shotgun butt stock holder, but would like to mount an ammo sling for the 22 mags or some way of carrying ammo simply to get to it fast. (still need a sling) ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE TO PURCHASE.... ?? I will have to put the sling swivels on too, so any suggestions on how best to do that will be appreciated. Gun has nice wood Monte Carlo stock...again it is the 24D, series P... thanks for help on this forum, Glad I joined....now I just have to shoot a 3" mag 20 ga thru bottom barrel and make sure it does not give me a black eye or "move" my scope sight- in on 22mag barrel. This will become my Pa. fall turkey gun, and coyote weapon...I got the 22mag shooting bullseye at 50 yds on 5 power on a 1.5 to 5 scope. Not much eye relief...but pistol scope just did not work for me.... thanks, steve

I've found the sling style ammo carriers too bulky--they tend to get in the way--butt stock carriers are the way I go.Since Logan no longer offers them I found a leather guy at my local gun show who will make them ( any leather guy will do,sometimes shoe repairmen can make them)--or take a nylon one--modify it yourself--just takes a needle and thread

Check out this old thread about stock cover with ammo loops. Op Tech is the name of the company. savage24forum.boards.net/thread/845/buttstock-ammo-holder-cartridges-shellsI don=n't know if this unit is still in production or if it comes with rimfire ammo loops. My thought is that if centerfire loop were sewn down middle, a pair from each loop would be created. Also loaded at bottom, for four (4) rounds per loop. Just a guess though. Sling front stud - some one here mentioned that mounting to fore end might cause it to unhinge if pushed out. A barrel mounted stud would probably be safer in that regard.

I agree with jrguerra comments on the best place to mount a front sling stud . I have a 24V, .222/20ga, and the sling front stud on this gun is barrel mounted just forward of the fore-end. If the fore-end is a pressure closing type like on the 24V verses a fore-end secured with a screw, the fore-end can be pulled off of the gun if the sling gets caught on a tree branch or other fixed object.
