I was shooting my 222/20 24V-Al last night and when I looked down to remove a case, the extractor “head” came out/off with the case!!
Looks like the shaft or pin broke where it was cross drilled for the actual tab that engages the 222 Rim. I have all parts but need the shaft and head...
Numrich shows out of stock on this as a 222 part.
Ebay shown nothing as well
Any one have any suggestions or maybe even this part to sell?
Help is most Appreciated.

I don't remember what the part looks like so pardon my asking; is this something you can make or perhaps a machine shop?

If it is the same extractor I ordered from Numrich I hope it fits yours easier than mine. Mine said "Fitting Required". I had to order the 222/20 extractor for my 357/20 rescue barrel set as it was the only extractor I could find, ANYWHERE. It took A TON OF FITTING. In my case the flat head part was too thick and did not fit the recess in the barrels. Had to thin the head first. The head is also just pressed on the shaft. To turn it down to the needed @.625" diameter on a lathe I first had to TIG the head to the shaft so it would not slip, then take off about .001" to .002" at a time on the lathe, interupted cuts like this require finesse. Then I had to file the portion intruding into the chamber and then use chamber reamers to cut the 357 and 20 rim cuts in the head. You won't need to cut the 357 rim, but you will need to get the 222 rimless spring, "tooth" and pin extractor parts into their respective itti bitty holes. It took me a couple of tries to get it right. A gunsmith may have done better but I like doing this stuff myself when I can. I am glad Numrich had something I could modify to fit or I would be DIW.

Time will tell. Pic looks like what I need description says 222. Also comes as a complete unit spring and brass piece that touches cast as well as set screw to holt it in.
I also have both the 222 & 357 and I looked at the 357 and its thicker and larger. With completely different grip on case rim. (As you know) the 222 uses a spring loaded brass finger while the 357 is just like the shotgun and just cut into the steel.
I thought about just tig welding mine back together. I thought anout industrial epoxy too. But I found this part hope its not all that difficult as you describe. I can see some fitting but turning the shaft is beyond “some fitting” in anyones book.

Ptypegreen,
Part arrived and will require fitting. The shaft is correct size, the “head” is oversized. The top, inside middle and bottom are large buy a few thousandths. Should be pretty easy to fit with a file and time patience.Very little needs to come off. The whole thing is pretty thick, so this will take more time with hand tools.
The 222/ is of coarse fine as thats what this is for. But the 20ga side needs a rim cut and thats my hang up. Going to a friend tonight as see what he may have. He has a mill and a Bridgport. Hoping he has the proper sized cutter.

I started fitting tonight. Enlisting a friends help with a Bridgport. I started with making the part fit into its position. Taking just a few thousandths off each side till it fit. OK now it fits where it should but its “thick”. I squared it up in the vice and set a larger bit and made about 6-8 passes. I was a little more than half way there when next pass it turned... I cursed myself for rushing, but looking at the dial, I made the same depth cut I had every time. I re setup and started another pass and it moved again. I was looking at the round shaft I was clamping not wanting to make a flat on it by tightening the vice too much when I realized I could see the shaft in the freshly milled steel... Grr its spinning on the shaft!! Now I need to make some choices as cutting the shotgun rim is a big deal I dont have reamers... I also dont have a proper sized cutter. Im gonna start with indexing the head on the shaft and cutting a slot then tig welding the head to the shaft. Kinda makes me want to just tig my original part... Im a lil frustrated and annoyed. Gonna put this down and think on whats next couple days. CW
