Some time ago I obtained a 357Mag 20Ga Series D rescue barrel set, everything that was not brazed together was gone and the scope mount holes were tig welded over. In another members thread I posted the challenges of fitting a Series A 222 20Ga extractor since nothing else comparably close was available. Luckily all of the other necessary extractor parts were available and require no fitting. I already owned a mid-1980s Series D 223 20Ga and had installed a Williams long front sight base and fiber optic blade and a Williams rear ghost ring fiber optic aperture. I had to tap another hole for the front sight base and rear sight base, tough to do on a 357 barrel as there is not much meat left compared to a 223 barrel. In the rear sight dovetail I installed a Williams 6-48 adapter. The rear sight base must be installed “backwards” because the scope mount base is too close to the dovetail.

The muzzle end of the 223 20Ga set had a connector solidly attached to the 223 barrel and a ring thru which the 20Ga barrel could move axially which essentially eliminated the tendency to string vertically as on barrel heated up. The 357 20 Ga barrels were soldered together with a small block making them susceptible to vertical stringing. I milled a connector for the muzzle end that was held in place by two setscrews engaging dimples I made in the soldered in block and then I unsoldered the 20 Ga barrel from the block.

This is the muzzle connector installed. The connector is held in place by two 6-32 setscrews. Now if I can just remember where I placed the front sight blade and rear ghost ring aperture.

Excellent!! I would like to have done that to my .223/20 if i kept it. Could not stand carrying that heavy gun through the mountains any more so I put it on Florida Gun Trader and it sold almost immediately.

I surely dont like to cart it too far. But I picked up a earlier 222/20 and its much lighter!! For my needs exactly the same. No coyote will ever be herd complaining! Look at some other models. My 222 is a 24V-A CW
