The 24V has the curved receiver drilled and tapped for the #74 Weaver. Unfortunately, my Red Dot only fits picatinny. I am not interested in manufacturing one. Does anyone know who sells one that fits or only needs a hole or two drilled?

I bought the Weaver #74 for a newer Savage 24F 22 0ver 20 ga. with curved receiver, perfect fit, screw patern was perfect, mounted an ultradot matchdot on it with no problems using picatinny rings, 24V's may be differant? Paul

Nah, it's the same base. The grooves in weaver rails are slightly smaller. Seems like most rings fit both, but maybe the OP's is an exception with a really wide recoil lug. The easiest thing to do would probably be get a different riser for the red dot, with a narrower recoil lug, that would go on the #74 weaver rail. Most of them use the same screw pattern, I think. Beyond that, one could widen and possibly deepen one of the slots on the weaver rail, but that would be difficult to do properly without a mill or at least a good file-guide jig.

Actually, I need two slots for the clamping screws on the Red Dot I own. I tried a reflex with one high and one low (which fit into the slot on the Weaver). I am thinking 1) buy a spare #74. 2)file my own slots since no one knows of a picatinny that fits or is close. What would be easiest is to get a picatinny rail with a round profile and drill mounting holes on my drill press. Then I have all the top slots to choose from, which is the point of picatinny. Unfortunately, the pictures on websites only show top views (the picatinny side) which all look alike. The bottom is never shown. I think by now everyone knows what the top of a picatinny rail looks like. I am interested in length and bottom contour. P.S. My Red Dot and Reflex sights clamp directly to the rail. I do not use rings.

The riser (that clamps to the pic rail) on the bottom of your red dot doesn't come off? Most of them screw on from underneath, and use the eotech hole pattern, I'd thought. I figured you could just replace it with a different one that will work.

Well I'll be darned. I guess Leapers always has to do something different, haha.
Their magnifier doesn't quite line up with my Holosun, either!

I've had luck opening the Weaver slots using a fine file with no cutting surface on the edge. Just set the smooth edge in the bottom of the slot keeping it flat then file the side of the slot slowly till the base or ring screw fits. Good luck with your project.

I have a picatinny on the way. If it doesn't work out, I'll mod the #74 Weaver.

Since the rail was languishing in some Chinese post office, I modded the #74 rail and mounted the Red Dot. Boresighted it and will check it out at the range soon. I like the local range, but it would be a nice drive over to Wisconsin to shoot there for free. If time and weather work out, maybe Sunday. I need to buy more .22 ammo too. Got to make a run to the Sportsman's Guide.
