So I picked up a .223 over 20ga 24 to add to the stable. It has black composite stocks. There is a crossbolt safety. Neither side of the receiver has engraving.Following the choose your own adventure identification guide Odell23 made on here, I don't get anything as expected. It only lists Model 24 on the rifle barrel. So that makes option 11A not fit. From another source where Odell23 posted, it seems like it could be a 24F Predator due to stocks and scope mount bracket. Serial is G447xxx
No pics due to the storm here. I did not want to get it out and wet. It came in the box with hang tag, styrophome, scope mount, cable lock, manual, and factory target.
So has anyone got one of these? I thought the 80's when the last these were made, but (if origional) the manual has 2005 on it.
I will upload pics soon.

Ok, now that the rain slacked off, I see this is indeed a 24F on the paperwork. I also think the 2005 booklet is just a toss in. The other stuff looks like it was printed in 96 or 97. Due to the scope mount bracket this is a later F model.
I see lots of date info on earlier guns before Savage filed bankruptcy, but is there any on the 24s after?

Just bought a 24F two days ago and it is almost identical to yours. Mine is earlier production, I think first or second year; first 4 in serial number are F0470, if I remember correctly.
My homework so far has produced little information about these guns. Maybe the 24Fs are regarded as the ugly ducklings of the 24 series. If so, it doesn’t bother me a bit. I regard mine as a utility gun. This one is also .223 and 20 Ga. The rifling twist is 1 in 14. Have cleaned it up. It may be unfired other than factory testing.

Hi Mate,
I've got a 223/12G Savage 24. I've been pleasantly surprised by its 1moa accuracy with 223 reloads upto 55gn projectiles. 60gn+ mostly don't stabilise due to the 1-14" twist. I hope you have similar results. Another Tip is allow plenty of cool down breaks. As 24s have a barrel band not a free floating barrel so heating and stringing shots is an issue. The 12G is pretty good with Full choke

24f in 22 hornet as said heats up and will string shots .. Leave barrel dirty and sight in using 2/3 shots .. First shot will be off on clean barrel ... I found trigger and weight bad. I improved the trigger ...
