I have a Model 24V series A in 30-30/20. It is a a terrific field gun. The selector has a node on it that is pushed for'd to strike 20 gauge pin. The node has sheared off. I can still move selector to shotgun by pushing on back of hammer anvil. Problem is to select rifle again I have to hook anvil with an allen key or some such like object. This has caused me to miss a few wallabies and I figured I could try and fix. I removed the selector and tried to file a flat so I can braze on a new node. It is as hard as bell metal. I am only a poor boy and Numrichs are $50 and a month away from me before I pay for goods. Any suggestions? I am figuring I could heat the selector to make it lose temper and work it then braze then quench in oil. Am I on the right track. I dont do much more than sharpen the chainsaw when it comes to metal working but I do have some silver solder. Thanks JIM Tasmania.

Sadly it might be "easier" to fabricate and harden whole new selector than fix the broken one.

Do I need a special grade of steel? I have plenty of files and the means to case harden. Do you think that the silver soldered repair will be fluid if I try to case harden the repaired selector? JIM
