Mine lives by the door. Squirrel, Rabbit, and buck for anything that goes after the chickens.
It's the perfect firearm for my situation, as I have angle issues: about half the compass puts me toward neighbor houses, but you could fire a cannon down the other half. Thus, I can switch from .22 to shotgun (and back) when the varmint shifts position. I missed many a shot when I only had a .22 because the little f#$%@*s seemed to move from a clear angle to a "house" angle.

Trying to accumulate as many as Big kelly has! So far, I haven't done much hunting with them...but hope to. Savage 24 .22LR/.410, Savage 24V-A .222/20Ga., Savage 24C Series S .22LR/20Ga., Savage 24V-A .30-30/20Ga with 24C style butt plate, Savage 24 V Series D .357Mag/20Ga., Savage 24D Series M .22Mag/20Ga., Savage 24 Series S .22LR/20Ga., Savage 24V Series B .30-30/20Ga.,and I have two sets of Savage 242 .410/.410 barrel sets that will fit on my .30-30/20Ga. So, don't look back BK, I'm in hot pursuit! Seriously, I like Savage combo guns! I have others but these are my favorites. I'm still looking for that Savage 24 chambered in .22 Hornet/20Ga. Anybody got one they'd be willing to part with?
Happy New Year! I started typing this in 2013 and finished it in 2014!

I had the 22M/20 ga out today!! WAS a real nice day to be in the woods... no game but good time just the same!! Got to try a couple slugs... Good news is they grouped VERY well, 2'' off hand at 50-55 yards. Bad news... POI was a full foot to the right and three inches high. ;( CW

Heres my 24 series P, .22 Mag over 3" 20 gauge. 1.5X4 power Weaver on top. The trigger guard on mine was broken too when I bought it, replaced it with a Numrich universal trigger guard. Its made of light metal and it can be bent to fit lots of older guns. I squirrel hunt with it a lot and keep the bottom barrel loaded with 3" #3 buckshot for the occasional hog I find when squirrel hunting. Its my goto gun for my little farm. Killed lots of crows, snakes, coons, and snakes with it. Of all the guns I own, and I have a lot, this one is one of my favorites.

........rabbits with .22lr - ( it favours ww sub-sonics ), decoyed crows & foxes, the occasional snakes, taipan, death adder, brown & tiger snake ( all rendered f r i e n d l y by 20 gauge ! ) and sometimes suffering kangaroo and emu victims struck & left on the roads by heavy haulage vehicles. My black plastic stock parkerised 24 predator had a trigger job & is equipped with a shell caddy. I'm happy with the original sights. It's a considerable comfort camping outback, with options of 22 cb caps thru to 22lr cci stingers, and 20 g with a 410 adapter ( 2 inch to 3 inch mags all sizes shot and solid 20's ). Could not travel happily in Australia without it ! Should have bought two more 24's when I could have. Cheers !

I own a couple of them. The 24F newest (I think) will become a feral hog hunter, a 30-30 Winchester over 12 gauge sounds like 'pig medicine' to me. My other pair of Savages are both Campers. One (Series S ? - the trigger guard release) plays backup / forager for my deer hunts, a MCA Ace 18" sleeve in 30-30 for the 20 gauge barrel just in case main gun becomes unfunctional (forgotten ammunition, scope zero gone wrong, etc.) With sleeve in place - really does add some weight with sleeve, about a pound. The last one was to keep another Camper (Series P) in the family, I have two kids and handing them each one of these makes a lot of sense when I cross the 'Great Divide'.

Mine (22lr/20) is a truck gun. Or "Get Home" gun, in case of a massive solar flare (or worse) while I'm out n about. Yes I'm serious. I also take it on long walks in the hills here in Utah. No real specific big game hunting will be done with it. Mine's new to me, and could use a new stock, but I'll post some pics after I get the package all set up.

My 22Mag/20 i use for squierrel, rabbit, birds and trying to beat my buddies shooting clay pigeons off the wood pile. My 357/20 is for shooting cheap 38's for fun and for showing off. My 30-30 is my work horse, AKA my Kentucky Gun. Deer on the top, and Turkey off the bottom barrel! When in season of course!

Thank you - I was lucky to find it. Down here, the price for a 24 runs at $400ish for beaters, $500 and up for something nice. This was in a pawn shop and I was lucky enough to snag it.
