I am trying to determine the age of this gun. I recently purchased it, it was advertised as unfired and it is immaculate. Just curious if anyone might have info on the serial number ranges. B869304. Thanks,

And note that the date code is not the letter in the serial number. It will be stamped or or near the locking lug under the shotgun barrel, in a circle, and will have a 1-2 digit (meaningless) number with it.
I predict that your gun is of mid-late-70s manufacture, though, in which case there isn't really any way to know for sure, but the series letter can clue you in within a year on either side, probably.
That's my understanding, anyway, but I could well be wrong. The 24V and 24F were out into the 70s-80s sometime though, I am pretty sure.

1972 to '75-'76. (using my normal method of comparing stock styles to the catalogs)

Hey guys, many thanks for the info. I have looked at the described location and I found where there was something stamped but I cannot make out a letter. I have attached a close up,of what I have, any ideas. Attachments:
