2- 5 shot groups @ 50 Meters, bench rested, Penny for reference. Adjusted for elevation between groups. The trigger is horrendus! Anyone got any tweeks/tips for improving the trigger on these? Thanks CZVZ Attachments:

Nice looking gun! The trigger on my 24C is pretty bad, too. Well, completely awful, really. Probably 15#, lol. But the triggers on my 24V and 24S are fine. Maybe it's a 24C thing; I dunno... It looks like a feller could maybe change springs and stone the action a bit, but I am afraid to try that myself, what with it being difficult to find replacement parts if I were to mess it up... How's the shotgun-to-rifle regulation on it?

That is a nice looking gun. I see the previous owner put a swivel stud on the forend of yours same as mines previous owner did. I didn't try putting sling on that way after hearing storys of others having the forend come off when carrying. One way around that problem if you want to sling it is cut a piece of leather 1" or so wide and wrap it around the shotgun barrel and forend, poke a small hole on each end so it's tight and put your stud through the holes and thread it back in. Not the nicest looking but is usable. Trigger on mine is REALLY heavy as well and as leaf said I am in the same boat being scared to stone it as well.

I stoned the trigger on my 24C a couple times but still is no where near as good as my others. It is what it is, and I will take no more off.

For $300, I'd buy it in a minute if there were no issues (missing / broken parts) with it. My Model P is a fine gun - the only thing I would change is the hard trigger pull it has. I don't recognize that sight either. The ones I remember are the standard elevator clip through slot. I think Savage DID make a pistol grip for this, it was advertised for it and the Savage 9478 single shot shotgun. This gunauction link has a picture of the grip I was thinking of. www.gunauction.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=9632464A bit pricey, but a .357 Magnum over 20 sounds very practical to me.

That rear sight looks like a Winchester from the Model 68, a peep type sight mounted on the barrel. That sight, alone, sells for $65.00 + on EBAY and gun auction sites!!! It is not original to your gun. I've looked for a 24C for some time but the prices are all $500 or more. I think I'll stay with my Stevens 22-410.

Are you sure of the model number? From what i remember, there were some 24c models made that were not Campers. The 24C that we all know and love is the 24 Camper, with 20" barrels, improved cylinder choke, and on the early (tang release) models a 2 3/4" chamber. Yours looks like it has 24" barrels, so the stocks may be original instead of a replacement. Either way, at under 300 you got a great deal! (YOU LUCKY B.....!!!!!) You could probably double your money on that investment quickly!
i've recently acquired a Savage 24 Camper complete with the original takedown case. Stock finish is kind of peeled like the cheap finish does. And i paid just short of double of what you did, and am happy to get it!
