Hi, guys. I had a couple of tables at a local gun show last weekend and set out a Tenite Stevens and a 24C Camper among my guns. An older gentleman came along and looked over the Tenite gun. He said his brother has a Tenite Stevens with two triggers and two skinny hammers. I immediately thought "240" (the .410 over .410), but he was almost insulted when I said, "Oh, a 240 .410 over/under," and insisted it's a .22 over .22. I told him I was unaware that such a Stevens gun existed, but he (rather huffily) insisted it's a .22 over .22 in Tenite, and said his brother has had it since it was new -- gift from a relative and never modified or altered. And there was no way, by God, of convincing him otherwise. I finally gave up and said I'd surely like to see that gun. Now I'm not the sharpest tack in the pack regarding many things, but I've spent a lot of years and money looking at, studying, salivating over, buying and (rarely) selling Stevens/Savage over/unders. I have dozens of old original ads for these guns. I have original Stevens catalogs and brochures. I have copies of the patents, complete with parts descriptions and artwork. And I've never, ever run across a .22 over .22 in person, in picture or in conversation. The guy said he would look at the gun that same afternoon to prove it is as described, but he didn't come back. So my question to you: Was he proven wrong and didn't want to admit it, or have I somehow missed such a gun over all these years? (I hope the former; I don't need to be looking for anything else to add to my accumulation. )
