Thanks for the kudos guys. I have a buddy who thought the painting thing wouldn't work out, but I showed it to him today and he was thoroughly impressed. The only real 'trick' to it is good prep work and then suspending the barrel vertically and spraying it correctly per the directions on the spray cans. The only thing I didn't do was to bake the barrel to make the paint heat resistant because nobody can put rounds through a '24' fast enough to create heat anyway! One thing I did after letting the final coat dry for over 12 hours was to take a few paper towels folded up and dry-rub the barrel to remove any paint dust which also gave it a little 'shine' as seen in the photos. I figure that if and when any of the paint wears off, I can simply clean it good and give it another light coat as a touch-up. Now that I have this done, I can make it my primary 'shootin' gun' and keep my pristine 24C as my 'trophy 24', as seen below: Attachments:

Sorry I have been reading intestedly but with not enough knowledge to really contribute I didn't post anything. But I been watching. I too am looking for extra barrel sets to add so I really am intrested and your success gives me hope. As for the refinish not the way I"d have done it but it sounds like it worked well and you are the one that has to be satisfied with that job. I'd probably spent a whole lot of more time on it and put a cold blue on it that might or might not have ended up looking as good as yours. Or if I decided to paint I"d have spent a whole lot more money than you did and used duracoat. In the end what I w9ould do makes little diff since it is YOURs . It does look just fine to me though and I'll keep it filed away for a low budget fixer upper should I need it. Just an idea but you could clear coat that frame too and have alot less rust issues on the beater gun. I am thinking of doing that with one of my beaters that has the easily rusted frame and doing it with the Duracoat version of clear coat. Have the Duracoat now just need the guts to spray it on somthing

Woops. Boy I sure am sorry for starting another compatibility string. Leave it to a new guy to mess up. If I am forgiven, please take a look at my post and reply, otherwise I humbly apologize. Chief
