I am trying to replace the forend on my father in laws Savage 24S-E. Never had the original and just ordered a replacement forend. Little did I know it would not have the metal clip to attach it to the barell. Is there somewhere to get a brand new one with the metal clip or a place to get the metal clip?
Thanks

You may be able to get the forearm metal from Numrich (e-gunparts.com). I've bought a lot of forearm parts there for the earlier Model 24s.

As littleguns stated you can usually find parts at Numrich Gun Parts. If they are out of stock then try "Out Back Gun Parts, Inc" located in New Albany, IN, phone number: 812-945-0480, website: www.outbackgunparts.com, or email: outbackgunpartsws@sbcglobal.net. If you try Out Back you will need to send him a picture of the part(s) from the gun's schematic including part number, and all of the specifics about your gun. He is not the cheapest place to get parts, but usually has the right parts. Good luck. If you need any help just ask.

are you speaking of the lightweight iron or the heavy iron? I have a lightweight that I can part with if its the one you are in need of.

If you're talking about the "hook" on the bottom of the barrel that forearm clips to,then you'll have to hand make that piece (that isn't a part you can order) and have it silver soldered on by a smith

bigkelly is 100% correct if the item that needs to be replaced is the barrel forearm lug or "hook". A replacement barrel forearm lug is not a part that can be purchased and must be fabricated and then pre-fitted to the barrel using low carbon or mild steel that is post case hardened or 4140 material that is post heat treated. The barrel forearm lug must be silver soldered onto the barrel, do not weld, with careful attention to the amount of heat used as not to alter the barrel's temper. This repair should be done by a qualified gunsmith as the silver soldering process and final placement of the barrel forearm lug is very important. If the barrel's temper is ruined by overheating, the area in which the lug is attached can bulge or even split if overloads are fired. You can always make some adjustments to the forearm's iron (internal metal components) to match the final position of the replacement barrel forearm lug on the barrel.
Good luck. If you need any help just ask.

I fitted mine using epoxy until it was in the correct location for the forearm to "lock on"--then the smith did his thing

I think the guest is referring to the iron that is screwed onto the inner of the front stock. gunparts does have this part in stock.

I ordered a forearm from Numrich. It seemed like it had the fitting. I will have to check, but I think my old teonite forearm still has the latch in it.

To add another question... I just bought a 22 410 combo to recapture my childhood. It was a gun broker purchase.... so crap shoot. It came with the Tenite stock and forend. I wand to convert it to wood. Will it be a direct fit?

some will, some not so much, but the tenite was a good (not great ) go to. Very little help but hope its a start. all of the fore ends that I have tried on my 24V have been better than the one on the gun when I purchased it FWIW.
