Anyone have any information on a Savage Model 24CS with all-nickel barrel and receiver? I've been able to figure out they were made in 1983, but any other years? I got four Model 24s at the Tulsa gun show this past weekend and one of them is a nickel 20" camper in .22 over 20 gauge. It's kind of odd -- no storage in buttstock, which is apparently the way they came, and the wood has been factory "flamed" to give sort of a splotchy burnt appearance -- buttstock, forearm and a handgun-style grip that can replace the buttstock, all kind of scorched in a regular pattern. Although it has no box or papers, I was told it was bought new in the early '80s as a home-defense weapon but never fired. Although gunshow sellers ALWAYS tell the truth, I can't verify that story, but the gun does look like new. Anyone with more info, thank you in advance. (I paid $380 for it, and $275 for a 1950 24 for $275 from the same seller. I also found a 24 with the separate barrels for $350 -- wood needs cleaning up but case colors and blue are great -- and a Model 24C-DL in .22 magnum over .410 that needs cleaning up but has good nickel for $350.) I passed on a 242 for under $500 because it was pretty well beat up with typical cracked wood and rust on barrels and receiver; I might have gone for it anyway but had already spent way too much on nine guns .)

Made in 1983 and 1984 called the Survival guns. You got a sceaming deal. I would expect $800-1000. Everything you noted about the gun is correct and factory for that gun.

Dang man you had a feild day and got a bunch of screaming deals Why o why dont I EVER have that kind of luck. You must be doing somthing right your karma is sure good FWIW, I am a member of the Tulsa Arms Collectors Association (even though I live in Minnesota). That membership lets members work Thursday afternoon helping set up tables, check table numbers, etc. For that work (and $40 annual membership) the members get to get into the show at 8:15 a.m. Friday, a full day ahead of the general public and while most dealers are still setting up. I found the 24CS and plain old 24 five minutes after the seller had set it on his table (or so he said). So that's how I found those particular deals. From there it's just walking and walking and walking until your legs ache and your feet scream (the show is 4,200 tables on 11 acres under one roof). I know I miss many more deals than I find, but I usually do find a lot of guns before I give up. I found four on Friday when only sellers are allowed in, then four more early Saturday before the public got in, and one on Sunday (a rather hard-used Winchester 9422 that obviously no one else wanted and which I'm going to try to resurrect). (I'm not a seller or dealer, by the way, but I go with a dealer as table help, and that gets me some extra privileges, too.)
