Update! We had another kid so I added another model 24 to the collection. New pictures and update is posted below in the thread. I have posted a few times on here all about my love for the savage 24 so I won't go into great detail. Long story short, my Papal had a savage model 24S-E chambered in .22 over 20 gauge. And I LOVED that gun. Growing up I always revered that as the perfect gun (probably because he told me it was). After my Papal passed away some years back, I inherited that model 24 and decided that I would love to have one of the coolest (most perfect) guns ever made to pass down to each of my kids one day. I'll leave the counting to you (if you can't past one hand worth of fingers, you may get confused by the pictures below) to figure out how many kids I have. I have: 2 over .410 Another .22 over .410 .22 mag over .410 Another .22 over .410 .22 over 20 Another .22 over 20 .222 over 20

And they’re all looking pretty minty to boot! You’ve got some Lucky kids no doubt........ but now that you met your goal, what beast will you have to feed next? 😜. I’d like to give each of my kids a 24-V model and matching caliber Henry Rifle, but that’s Just a pipe dream for now.

Thanks! I have been fortunate to find some really good condition 24's for sure. In fact the one with the most wear is the one I inherited from my Papal. But I know that those wear marks are from him using it often in the woods and I know that each nick or scratch is a story from his life, so I don't mind those little "imperfections" one bit. I like the thought of a 24v with matching Henry. I have a 24v in .222 over 20 and I LOVE it. I'm saving up right now to buy another one that I've had my eye on. My next beast to feed is collecting one Remington model 76 or 760 or 7600 (pump action center fire rifle) for each of the kids. I have 3 of them so far, so I have a ways to go. My 7600 in .270 was my first gun ever. I got it as a graduation present from my parents.

That is a very nice collection. I can only hope your children will value those 24s for the remarkable firearms they are. I am curious how you will decide which child will receive the original owned by your papal? Best wishes.

I am curious how you will decide which child will receive the original owned by your papal? Best wishes. That's a great question. My initial response and current plan is that the Savage 24s-e that started it all and that I inherited from papal will go to my oldest son whose middle name he got from my Papal - Lee. The only possible issue with that is that my oldest son is a lefty. Most model 24's are great guns for lefties, especially with the breakdown lever on the tang or in front of the trigger guard and the barrel sector on the hammer. But the model "s" have the take down lever on the right side which is very hard for a lefty to operate smoothly. My oldest son is only 14, so I have time. He actually LOVES my model 24V and prefers to carry that when turkey hunting so he can be ready if he sees a yote in the distance, so maybe he will want that one. In that case, I don't know who Papals gun will go to...

UPDATE! We welcomed our 8th child, Christopher, into the world last week and so my collection of 7 Savage model 24’s wasn’t going to be enough. I was able to do some trading with a member here for an 8th model 24 so now I have one for each of my children again. I took some new family pictures of the collection too. And here they are separated into their specific combinations. There are 3- .22/.410 2- .22mag/.410 2- .22/20ga 1- .222/20ga

Very nice collection. Have you decided which child inherits which specific or will that be left later to be decided by your children ?
In any case, it is nice to have options. You are a true blue Savage 24 fanatic. :^)

I dunno, this seems like a rather expensive way to come up with excuses to buy guns!
