Bought this a few months ago, Action was stiff when I got it, But did shoot both barrels, Thought it needed a deep cleaning, Finally got around to doing a deep cleaning with shelter in place, This is what I found, Besides the galling, The spring loaded lever that operates the 410 lift is froze up, Only moves when opening the action assembled. Also, the forestock does not lock up with barrels when removed from receiver. Your evaluation is much appreciated. Be Safe, Paul Attachments:

I can't see your concerns clearly enough to make an evaluation---but that model 24 has always been sort of funky as far the operation of that lever "the forestock does not lock up with barrels when removed from receiver" How can the forestock lock up with barrels if the barrels are removed--- ?

Thanks for the input Bigkelly, My 24 camp gun's forestock attaches to the barrels when receiver is removed, My Citori does as well, I guess not all 24's are able to do this. Question, Is that spring loaded galled up part that lifts the 410 shell supposed to be in a bind? The only it will move is with a screwdriver prying on it. Also About forestock part that looks like it has been ground on, Is that finish normal? My other 24's look smooth. As far as a better view of pic's, On my iMac, I can click on the pic to enlarge them, Then click back button to go back to thread. Be Safe, Paul Attachments:

Let me take a crack at it with some obvious advice. Yours looks identical to one of mine, except rougher. The tab on the lower barrel (which secures the forearm spring clamp...for want of a better term) is really rough. I'd take a file and emory cloth and smooth it. At the same time, take a small file and carefully make the notch deeper. Your 2nd and 4th pics show the extractor lever. Looks like yours may be bent. Take it out and straighten it or you can buy a new one for $7.75 www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-manufacturer/savstevspgfld/rifleshotgun-combos/24-early-model?page=2Lastly, smooth any working surfaces and thoroughly clean the gun, inside and out. Lubricate with Ballistol. Your 4th post shows some kind of crusty stuff (if I get too technical, let me know 😉) where the butt stock meets the receiver. What's that? Use a long big-ass screw driver and remove the stock. It'll let you clean it all and peek into the innards. Again, use Ballistol. Keep us posted!

Thanks for the knowledge Vancmike, The spring loaded extractor lever was in a bind, I pulled the pin and filed down the sides to move freely, Got much better, Will chime back in when I get back to it. Have been busy with an older Mom and her old neighbor. Would like to pick your brain more on this subject soon, Stay Safe, Paul

ALSO. Don't trust this guy on 24 hour Campfire in the link below, or anywhere else. Still trying to get the firing pins to work right, After freeing up frozen and questionable parts not fitting right. I thought this was a turn key tool, This is a project. Needless to say I am very disappointed to have this in my quiver of 24's after paying a very good price for the tool. www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/users/14968/5bshooterStay Safe All, Paul
