I just picked up a Model 24 22/410 the other day from an old friend of mine that he has had for a day or two(ha). but it has been tinkered on, the barrel is now 18 1/2" and someone has decided that the stock was to long and they shortened it as well as shaved down the stock to make it thinner. They also had the 22 changed to 22 Mag. Someone could not make up his mind on what he wanted. Well It is mine now and I will take better care of it.
Well now I need to find another stock for it.
I am not sure when it was made but it does have the select slide on the side of the reciever and no serial #'s. I thought that a bit odd or did they not put serial # on them during certain years?
Well anyway, I am looking for another stock for it. Any suggestions. Thanks

There are different stock patterns where the stock meets the receiver. Some are straight cut against the rear of the receiver and others have a half moon cut in the receiver that the stock fits into.

You're correct, but I'm pretty sure the scallop/half moon can be sanded off to accomodate a straight receiver. Someone here did it within the last year, or so.

I never thought of that, it's a great idea.

Which one should I get the straight one or the "monte carlo" one. I have an older model.
I also have an issue where the 22mag round will not always eject. have to use my pocket knife to get it out. any suggestions on how to fix that?

Since the gun is far from original, get whichever one you like the looks of.
As far as the extractor not working reliably, there's a spring behind it. Good chance the thing needs to be cleaned, or a new spring fitted.

The rimfire ejectors can get gummed up pretty easily. It is easy to take out the retainer screw and get the ejector and spring out. You can use a paper clip to get the spring out. The hard part is getting all the crud out of the ejector hole. I use rubbing alcohol (isopr0pyl), but it is hard to find these days. Anyway, you can use any gun cleaner, solvent. Use the paper clip to loosen the crud while soaking it with the cleaner. Blow it out with canned air or an air compressor. Do it a few times. Clean the ejector and spring well, lightly oil them and wipe them off (so they don't corrode) and reassemble. If it still has problems, order a spring from Numrich or Jack First Gun Parts.

Remember too that many Savage 94 stocks will fit as well. And they usually do not have a high comb and are many times cheaper.

From an aesthetic viewpoint, I vote for the non-Monte Carlo stock ☺
