First off thanks for accepting me! I'm not new to Savage (have 6 Sav 99) but this is my first M24. Savage 24V takedown Over Under Triple Deuce over 20 gauge-1966 year Auctions have consequences when bidding since most times you can't hold the firearm in your hands. Our local online auction house in Kalispell you can actually go up and touch, hold and feel the items before the online auction starts! I've always wanted one of these ugly over/under Savage 24's since I was a kid! This particular one was made in 1966 and from what I can tell after inspection has not been fired! I broke everything down and cleaned it up, but did not disassemble the trigger, firing pins, etc since it was obvious it was very clean and well oiled. Some handling marks, probably from moving in and out of the safe. She's no virgin any more. I worked up a load for .222 Rem that it likes very much (1.5" MOA at 50) and added an AT3 Red dot on a Weaver 74 rail. With shot shell, and red dot at 25 yards, it patterns just a tad low (6 BBs around the center of the target, the rest about 5" low) Enjoy the glamour pics!

Welcome to the forum and to the model 24 platform. That's a clean looking combo gun.

Very nice find. I looked at one yesterday, a 24v-a. The bluing is good but the butt stock is scuffed up. I reckon for $350 I won't get hurt even if I refinish the stock. I'll have to get a red dot so I can mount my Vortex Venom micro red dot.
