Meeting a guy on Saturday to look at his 24V Series D in 30/30 over 20ga.. anything in particular to look for, I don't know a whole lot about these guys..also..Whats it worth do you think? It has a "fancy" cracked butt stock (not sure how bad) along with a good plain jane one, case hardened reciever and blued barrels..

I've seen quite a few go way too high lately. If you get it for $450 or less you're probably doing as best as can be done without waiting forever to find one for less. The correct stock can be found out there, but the crack maybe repairable, and then you'd have a stock to sell.
Anybody else seen prices of this combo lately?

Yeah, he's asking $480, so even if I give him full price It wont be bad..and I'm a cheap old horsetrader and rarely give full price.. ;-)

If you get him down 5 to 10% and then up selling one stock or the other, you'll be doing great!

Well I brought it home with me today, It shot well out of both barrels, and all seemed to function well.I can glue the "fancy" stock and it will work I believe..wont ever look very good though. Paid $425 for it and I thought that was pretty decent..
Question: On top of the barrel is what looks to be a rail for a scope mount although it is not. It has 3 drilled and tapped holes looks like, I'm guessing I can get a rail or some sort of mount to go on this...but where?

Weaver #74 IIRC.
$425, with an extra stock, wow! That's like 2007 prices!

I shot it at 75 yds and 30 yds with the 30/30 and 20 ga bbls, both hit jugs off hand with the iron sights..I was pleased. Just got done dissassembling, cleaning, oiling and putting it back together..two things..one of the screws on top for the scope rail is buggered up so I'll have to play with it a bit to get it out Also the "nice" stock has a little "ear" missing where it meets the reciever, top right, I can glue the other cracks up but it will always have a gap there I think.. if anyone has a spare...I'd love to hear about it. All in all I'm pretty pleased with my first ever combo gun.. ;D

Nicely done. I owned one ever so briefly a few years back but was forced to sell it before I ever got any real use out if it. Someday.

Oh… I've had a 24 series S since I was 13-14 or so. I also have a 24C series P.
Had a Springfield M6 for a while and the 24V. 24's are funny for me, I want to buy every one I see, even though the ones I have rarely see any use anymore. Too many guns, too little time.
