Hi , new here. Just traded into a 24v 222 20 ga. I Have been trying to date it but the sites guide doesn't work. It has the rectangle block on both sides of the barrels ,Hardwood stock, dull matt finish, fox on one side and grouse on the other and no crossbolt. serial starts with E and has six numbers. I am thinking late 70s early 80s ? Anyone know when this was made ? thanks

You can get a ballpark idea by going to Savage24.com and looking at the catalogs.

When I searched on SAVAGE 24 RECEIVER ENGRAVINGS, I found a picture of a Savage 24E-DL Deluxe silver receivered model with fox on one side, grouse on the other. But no year of manufacture found - your guess sounds about right to me. Polecat's post on combination firearms may be of some assistance - see attachment. www.mrpolecat.com/articles/the_field_grade_combination_gun/index
