My Dad won this gun in a Trap Shoot in the 50s. Somewhere along the line the front trigger guard screw disappeared. I have a replacement. From what I have read, the receiver must be taken apart to replace it. Am I correct ?..or is there a DIY fix...Thanks...Jerry..

Can you supply any details, to help identify the approximate age of your rifle? This might help narrow things down a bit.

Thanks..The gun is from the 50-60 era.It is just the front trigger guard screw needs replaced. A local 'GUNSMITH' says the action must be taken completely apart to replace it. I thought surely someone on the forum would know..thanks..jv..............

Seems like some models had the screw coming down through the receiver and others don't.
My 1964 24J attaches from inside the receiver, I had a 1983 field grade the trigger guard attached from outside the receiver.
Does yours have an existing hole outside the receiver or not? If not, then apart from tapping a new external thread, I don't see any other option but going from inside the receiver. If there is already an external thread, then it's just a straight screw in (I'd use some blue loctite to be sure).
I'm no expert and without knowing any specifics of your rifle I can't offer any more.
