Hello I have found this site to be incredible help especially the flow chart I saw posted to identify my gun.
I am 50 years old and my Father gave me a Savage 410/22 over under that he always kept for me to shoot in Michigan when I was 8 years old. we would go fishing & shooting in Upper Penninsula from south side of Chicago every summer from 1981-2010
He passed away from lung transplant I was finally able to find my gun was stashed away in storage and I am very happy to have it back.
My Savage is 24S-E 410/22 SERIAL# P211828
Im very curious about the SERIAL# P211828 ...Any Details on the Gun any experts can provide would be great so im not speaking Misinfomation about the gun when Friends ask me details about it. I assume it was Not Army Air Corps issue due to what I have read on here about the P serial number
Thank You in Advance, Dan R

Pre 1968, serial numbers were not a requirement. I have an S-D .22/20ga and it had no serial number. You might want to check the FAQ page (strangely, I cannot get to it from the forum) from the main page. If the P means anything, it would be a 1963 build. You didn't say what year you were 8 years old, so check if that jives with the timeline. It's probably a field grade side lever model. There isn't much to know other than it was a do all small game combo gun. Savage currently make the model 42 combo and Chiappa makes combos (Double Badgers) as well. I have a Chiappa DB in .22/20ga and I prefer the Savage, although I modified it with choke tubes, fiber ghost site (ala Chiappa) and refinished the stock. I had a Savage 22/410 albeit newer than yours. I was a great bunny/squirrel gun. It was stolen, which still makes me sad.
