Greetings,
I have a question and would appreciate the opinion of you fellow savage 24 collectors. I’ve been collecting 24’s for about 5 years and have 71 total in my collection. Including 10 NIB. From Steven’s 24 tennite with USAF serial numbers, Valmet 2400, Savage 389, 24DL, through the 24F models. Many but not all older versions with great colors, wood, and year of manufacture stamps in the 50’s. Have one that was taken brought back Korean War (My Dad’s, my first given to me in 1975). Shot a lot of squirrels with that bad boy. I live in Alaska and always have one close by. Greatest American survival gun in my opinion. Quick question: I do not have a 24VS, this “jewel” has been elusive to me. Recently a couple came up for auction, and I missed out. Here is where I would appreciate you “long haulers” to chime in with your opinion. In terms of pure one for one “collectors value” and if you had your choice, New in Box 24D 20 ga / 357 Max, or used 90% 24VS 20ga / 357 max ?
Thank you to all of you that served…Happy Veteran's Day. God Bless Akpflan

I think the 24VS in .357 MAX was only made for one year. 1984? If it has the PG and the standard stock I'd go for that one even if it's only 90%. YMMV.

Depends what someone wants. If you're a collector who wants to own something that they might pull out occasionally to look at or show off then a NIB wins. I'm in the camp to take something out to shoot once in a while, or at least have the fantasy that I can, so a 90% wins out for me.
