Hi 24combo...The ones I missed were on an auction from Poulin Auctions out of Fairfield Maine. I recently spoke to the gent who won and purchased these. Nice gent, he has also has been looking a long time for a 24VS to surface. Hats off to him snagging that pair. This doggone model is as hard as hen's teeth to find. It's mind boggling that another one has surfaced on GB within a couple of weeks. Definitely giving this second chance a hard consideration. Thanks for your input on the 24VS / 24V 357 max/20 ga... much appreciated...your right, these get expensive. I've got a couple of the 24V 357max/20 ga and was hoping to trade down the line.
thanks and take care. pflan

As I said "too rich for me". But WOW I didn't expect it to go this high.

Pflan, Congrats on your acquisition. That’s a price tag for sure! Hope it arrives to Alaska well and you enjoy! It’s a beauty!

Thank you. Will do. I wasn’t expecting it to get there either. One other gent pushed it from 1,250 to 3K. That stung a bit. My collection is now pretty close to being complete. (probably will always say “pretty close”). Been waiting almost 5 years for this one. I read just through a couple old ads and articles (when I was knee high to a grasshopper) I could have bought 40 each 24’s for this price. Well, you can’t have a royal flush without getting an Ace card. Thanks again. Happy Thanksgiving. pflan

And I never thought it would go for that amount.I am going to pad and tape the crap out of it, for the trip to the North 40.Of course insure it to the max.

Have received the gun. Delivered as promised quickly and safely packaged. Very nice condition and am please but have a question and need a little ID assistance. Are there instances of a 24VS being marked only as a 24V? Also, this one is a 357 Mag... not a 357 Max. I believe Savage did make some 24VS in the mag and max, but they still marked the barrel as a VS, correct? Would appreciate your comments... thanks, Pflan

Looks good pflan. I can't help with the verification of VS24 compared to the 24V. Good luck with your search.

I recall that the 24 was chambered as far back as 1980 in .357 Magnum. The Maximum was added much later but I have no recollection of when it that was introduced. That question is probably answered in the Sticky 'How to I.D. ...' sticky at top of page. Very thorough that one, very well done.

Maybe I had better go give my Savage 24V in 357 Mag/ 20 Ga a love pat and another coat of oil.
