Good day everyone! Thank you for accepting me. I am based in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. I spent many pleasant days hunting on a family farm with a Stevens .22/.410 in my youth. I have recently purchased a Savage model 24 in .22/410 hence my joining the group. I also enjoy shooting/hunting with my Savage model 99s. I will post an image of my model 24 in the Photo Gallery / pictures thread. Regards.

Welcome aboard, Jack! Anybody crazy enough to wander around anyplace in Africa with a .22 and a .410--or even a 22/20 gauge like your current one--is just the right kind of crazy for this site! I have a Model 24-S in 22/20ga myself, but I've got other combination guns, and I'd feel a bit edgy even with my heaviest, which is 7x57R over 12 gauge, in your country. Tell me, did you ever find yourself undergunned when you were out? Do you carry slugs for the 20, now that you've moved up? windy

Oops! Just re-read your post; you're still running around with a 22/410? Well, Brenneke makes a .410 slug... Actually, I did run afoul of a big Idaho black bear with only a .22, once, back when I was younger and even dumber than I am now; that time I had a repeater. After an argument with my bird dog, it finally ran off with 14 .22-size buttonholes in its hide; didn't expire until later that evening. I found it after I'd gone back to dig it out of the brush, the next morning, re-armed with a 30-06, but the 14 .22's had finally made the heavy artillery superfluous. Summer of '67. windy
