My 24H-DL (22mag/20) does not have a spring on the shotgun (lower) firing pin.
So far as I know it's been like that since new.
Every parts diagram I see shows 2 springs, one on each firing pin.
The gun works perfectly.
Should there be a spring or no?

My vintage '57 Mdl 24 doesn't have a spring. And occasionally, a .410 shell will fire in .22 mode. I suppose there's a fix.

I just read an original 24H Disassembly/Assembly and during assembly, it said there is no spring on the shotgun firing pin.
It was about 4 words lost in a bunch of text so very easy to miss.
It's odd that in almost every parts breakdown I have seen it shows 2 springs.
I certainly hope I don't get a shotgun fire while firing the rifle! Pretty sure that would throw off my aim.!!

I don't think so. There may be some that do, but I think the majority don't
