Well Im throwin in the towel on my new 24V wood.
I really dont want to fix it a d have to paint it cause the repairs are so fugly....
So mine is a non scalloped side. Or straight sides Walnut monte carlo stock.
I have found Cottage Farms. Has any one used them? Any impressions? Any where else one might suggest?
I can get the scalloped side most anywhere that sells wood. Even eBay has them. But monte and straight sides aint so common!
Help welcome

I found their supplier once, but I can't, for the life of me, remember who they were. The prices were about 10% less. I'll keep trying to figure it out.

Has anyone converted one style to the other??
The receivers look the same otherwose. I cannot imagion they are really allot different. Hopping its just the side protrusion. Also hopping I can sand it off and use it!
Kinda being cheap but Cottage said it would be at least six weeks and probably 8 untill the ship. (If I ordered today) I found a stock with scallopped side that can ship now. Looking at all my 24’s the frame lools and leasures same san the protrusions. Im thinking I can just sane them off and Ill have a stock usable on my D series 24V.
Can anyone confirm or deny this for me? This stock is 1/3 less and looks nice. With the Cottage I get what I get when I get it and its more costly. If I knew it was nicer I could wait but the time coupled with unseeing as well as price has me wanting to grad this one. But It would be nice to know it can be modified as i suspect.

I have the straight end one as well. I can only find them at Cottage and they don't have checkering. They are rough cut (they show examples). You could try calling Numrich and ask them when they will restock their stocks (see what I did there?). They are cheaper and have the straight end with checkering. Maybe they wait until they have a backlog before reordering.

I got my butt stock last night. It came out of MN! Nicely grained with only one imperfection. But there was a couple problems... the hole for the mounting bolt was cut too shallow and the bolt never reached the receiver. Its a custom thread and bolt so I had to rig up a 3/8 rod welded on my 3/4” Forcerner (square) It easily bored the proper depth with just a little measuring. Next problem was the butt plate. It was excessively off center and once removed. I found two holes and a stripped screw. Fitting was pretty easy and was done with a couple files and time. Trial and little error . I really only had to remove the two protusions of wood from the sides. The stock is a lil fat in places and the thru hole is a little high as once mounted the tang is proud of the wood on top and 1/8” deep down below in pistol grip. But other wise pretty good wood to metal fit. The stock is very small at the butt. Only 4” tall. Most small pads are even too big! Only one I found small enough is a limb saver. I didnt really want a thick pad on this. But thats what its gonna have to get. I should have that in a week or so. Then Ill cut stock and fit the pad. In the mean time I have a minor complaint to seller and inquiry to see if he may have matching for stock. CW

Nice work!
Why not plug the screw holes, and re-drill so you can use the butt plate, or was it fitted so it's unusable?

Nice lookin' wood! It looks a bit long, but I am thinking it's an optical illusion. I had to fix the screw holes on both my guns. Not sure how people mess these up. I just use polyethylene glue. TightBond or Gorilla. I put a black w/white line Pachmayr RP200 on my S-D. The V-D came with a pad, which I cleaned with soap and water and a brush, and polished the white line plate edge. Looks like new. The RP200 pad is less than an inch thick and doesn't mess up the LOP much (in fact, it improved it on the S-D). White lines look cool IMHO. The RP200 is $22 from Amazon. I think you need a small.

Thanks guys!!
I can fix for sure. I make a walnut plug with a plug cutter, then bore a 3/8 hole and epoxy in the plug. Sometimes its near invisible. But shouldnt be issue here as Im gonna chop off a inch and a half, then replace with a recoil pad. (Should be end up about 3/4” shorter than before.). The plate is plastic and frankly kinda trashy junk. Being ground so crooked looks aweful too.
It is long!! Its 1/2” longer than stock and that was a good 1/2” long for my liking!!

Negative on forend wood. Boyds is his supplyer and they do not catalogue one like I have. They offer one with the snap closure butbits the version with the sides mike my A has. I could probably modify. But for 100$ more Ill just refinish mine to better match. But aside from Impressed checkering the color isnt too far off.

AAAAAGGGGHHHHHH! My buttstock cracked at the neck (right-side) again. The professional repair (The seller claimed) is breaking completely off on the right side. It was fine until I fired a couple 20 gauge slugs. I will attempt to fix it before I buy a new stock. As soon as it's fixed, I am getting rid of it (24V-D with straight sides at the receiver).

Found the exact buttstock I needed on eBay. It's 96.60 including shipping. Has the right checkering, a butt plate, and pistol grip cap. It will be here this week. I may have to do some very slight fitting at the receiver and refinish it, but that is easy.

Got the buttstock, cleaned the pistol grip cap and butt plate and polished them. Had to replace the white plastic parts as they had stain on them. Fitted the stock and used acra-glas to make sure everything was tight to the receiver. Stripped, and restained the buttstock and forestock with varathane "Gunstock" stain and then used wipe-on polyurethane varnish. rubbed it with Rottenstone and it looked perfect. Then I took it to my gun dealer and traded it in for a Chiappa Double Badger 22lr/20 gauge. I kept my 24S-D since I put so much time into fixing it up to what I want, but no more used guns for me. I need guns that just work and haven't suffered lack of maintenance. Why the Chiappa you might ask. Because, while grouse hunting, the trigger selector got pulled back with the hammer a couple times spoiling my shot. The Chiappa has two triggers. I never understood the two triggers until now. Just pull the front trigger for the shotgun and the back trigger for the rifle. So anyway, If you need a nice, completely gone through 24V-D .222/20 Gauge with nice furniture, Dave at getgunsnow.com (Armslist) has one for you.
