I recently came across a Savage 24 barrel advertised/chambered in .22LR/20ga. I was surprised when it arrived it was a .22 Magnum/20ga. barrel. My question, has anyone "Fitted" a Model 24 barrel to another frame? And will the chamber of the Magnum barrel line up with the breech/firing pin of my .22LR/20ga. breech/receiver? I know the guys on Graybeards Outdoors hand fit different barrels to different receivers all the time on H.R./NEF Handi rifles. Just wondering if anyone here has any success/advice with Model 24s?
Thanks

I haven't done it so I can't speak with any authority, but I wouldn't worry too much about the firing pin. The difference is only .016 in rim diameter, and some manufacturers, CZ for instance, offer rimfire rifles that switch barrels between all the calibers on one receiver.
If you can get the barrel to lock up, I'd go for it.
