Hello Savage24.com folks, I just purchased my first Model 24 C-DL in 22 Mag / 20 Gauge. I have two questions for you folks: They are:
1. I would like to install an apature sight on it. I have read that Redfield and Williams made apature sight for them. I am not sure if Lyman made sights for them also. Would any of you folks have one for sale or know where I might find one?
2. If you have installed an apature sight on your Model 24 did you need to install a new front sight? If so, what height did you install?

I've seen peep sights on model 24's in the past, never personally had one. Someone will be around shortly who will be able to help.

Many Savage 24 users also would like a receiver mounted rear aperture sight too. Haunting ebay and on-line gun accessory shops might find you one but it will likely be a test of patience. I wish you luck with your search. And welcome to the forum.

Have you tried looking at the Skinner Sights website. They make a lot of different peep sights that might work for you depending on how the gun is made. If the gun is drilled and tapped at all on the receiver one of their "low profile" sights will screw right in. If your gun has a dovetail mounted rear sight they make some peep sights that mount into the rear dovetail. Its hit or miss as to whether the front sight height needs to be changed. If your 24 is grooved on the receiver to take the regular 3/8" scope rings than they make a peep sight that clamps right on there. I think that one is listed under CZ sights or IZH sights. I mounted one of those on IZH 94 (12ga. 3" over .222). Very solid setup. Has never loosened up after many magnum loads.

Hello Woodsbum, Thank you for the leads on an appature sight. My 24C-DL is drilled and tapped on the left side of the receiver for an appature sight. I will follow up on your suggestions. Thanks again! DesertDweller62

Yes, the Williams 5D WGRS - 24 has been discontinued for a long time. I keep my eye out on E-bay and some other forums. You never know when someone might list on for sale. If anyone on the forum has one, please contact me. The hunt goes on! DesertDweller62
