I just picked up a model 24 in 22 lr over 410. Case colored receiver and marked as “model 24”. Pistol grip wood stock. Side button barrel selector and barrels full length soldered together. I haven’t checked the choke. Barrel is grooved for 3/8” scope mount. Front sight as typical for this model.
It has a 20” barrel rather than the standard 24” barrel.
Is this a factory configuration or a gun with the barrels cut down to 20”?

Interestingly it’s choked IM. Anyone know anything about this configuration?

As far as I know, the 20" barreled model (aka Camper) has always been sold as a .22lr / 20 Gauge. You can changed that 20 to .410 using one of the various barrel sleeves (or Savage 410er). Someone made this one is my guess. Not a factory job and if it is, is a very rare bird.
If you can, please include a photo or three of it here.

Interestingly it’s choked IM. Anyone know anything about this configuration? The solid barrels were made before the camper model and the camper was an open choke. I had a solid barrel 22WMR/20ga cut to 18 inches and refinished in Armor Tuff by Wilson Combat. I then refinished the wood with spar varnish. As an aside, typically the 3/8 grooved mounts will not hold the scope in place with 20ga recoil (not sure on a .410. the solid barrels are easily shortened. The Separate barrels are not easy.

How'd you like that 22WMR/20? I have a 22LR/20 and love it. Started out looking for a 22 Hornet combo and wound up with this one. It's a good one.

To the OP(let's not hijack the thread, openbook): I suspect your barrel may have been cut down. I have the same (but older) gun as you, and my 24" barrel mics .375" at the muzzle. That's a fairly tight choke, so it stands to reason that if one cuts 4" off the barrels, it would open the choke some.
And since there's no dovetail for the front sight, it would be easy to drill and tap for the new location.

I too have an older 22/410 Stevens. I had the barrels cut to 19" and a screw-in choke installed. So, it as been done by others. Also, added the barrel selector to the hammer. I also have a 16 gauge barrel fitted.

I also have a 16 gauge barrel fitted. I wasn't aware the 16 gauge was ever an option for this 24. Interesting ! The 16 is very versatile and deserves more popularity. I never owned any 16 gauge, but one of my boyhood friends had a single shot 16 and took a lot of game with it.
