Hello everyone I recently inherited 7 or so Steven guns one of which was a 22-410. It’s a beautiful gun with some wear and tear so I started cleaning it up when I realized the stock was loose. I took off the Screw and realized they Butt plate doesn’t come off. Does anyone know how to tighten this stock/ that is if I can even tighten it. I don’t know if this will help but the stock is the original plastic one. I appreciate all the help!

Mine was originally a plastic stock. It broke over 50 years ago, right after i got it. (used) The gunsmith gave me a cracked wooden one, and it is still the same. The wood stocks have a tendency to crack on both sides, above and below the part oval cutout at the back of the receiver. I have purposely left the bolt loose, so it didn't get stress and crack more. THat said, as I recall the plastic stock had a removable buttplate. THe wood stock does for sure. So the bolt is easy to access.
Some people find the original plastic stock and forearm 24s to be collectible, so be careful not to crack the brittle old stuff if you want to extract maximum resale value. If you have it to hunt, then be on the lookout for NLA wood stock and forearm parts.
I would leave the stock loose as long as it does not create wear on the plastic. In any case, you do not want to tighten it more than barely snug.
