Hello, new to the group. I have had an affection for the Savage combo. As a kid, my older brother had a 22Mag over 20gauge. I have often thought that I would love to have one of those. I didnt know what the model was or even the brand. I did a few searches and found out it's a model 24. There seem to be a number of letters after the 24, not sure which one is which but anyway, I really love these guns. I think I would love to find a 30/30 over 12 gauge. I have found a few 30/30 over 20 gauge but not 12 gauge. I have found a few .223 over 12 which would probably be my second choice. The surprise is how much I am seeing some of these selling for. Gunbrokers has some in decent condition going for upwards of $1000. Any ideas of a good place to look for these, of course I am checking local gun shows when I can.

Keep a watch on Gunbroker, Gunsamerica, Gunsinternational & GunAuction to a small extent. Every day if you have to. And leave what you want on each site with a "wish list" or "watch list" which will email you with a new listing of what you are looking for. But looking often is the best way and try to catch someone with a BuyNow! that does not have a clue of the gun's current market value. That is what everyone refers to as getting it for a "good deal". I look for guns that I am searching for 10, 15 or more times a day until I find it. A little bit of key punching can pay off in beating someone to a good deal. Gun shows are alright, but selections are few and far between, not to mention the hassel of driving & spending gas money, waiting in line, paying an entrance fee and then discovering after four hours of searching that there is nothing there for you. Stay in front of your computer as much as you can. SC

just found one from a private seller in the valley trader [local va classifieds] getting one for a good price is getting harder. i searched 4 years for the right one. 30-30 over 12 is a hard combo to get but are around. people just dont get rid of that combo. finally got one with a synthetic stock for 550.00. you will see 22 over combo's all day under 450. as said keep looking at the classifies and web sites. but the prices they are asking sometimes is crazy
