Big Kelly, I should have known that you already had one! If I snag a .22 Hornet/20 gauge barrel set, will it fit the receiver for my .30-30/20, .222/20, .357Mag/20 or all of them? Thanks.

It should ,BUT I am seeing a problem with some 222/20 ga recievers not lining up enough to fire the rifle barrel. It seems to be the 222/20 guns where the barrels are pinned, usually marked 24V-A,but not if the barrels look like the 30-30 style

Thanks, I'll have to get my .222/20 and my .30-30/20s out and compare them, to see exactly what you're talking about. What do you think about the conversion to .22 K Hornet in our Savage 24s?

A friend had a Kimber bolt converted to .22K and had some issues feeding, which would be a non-issue in the Mdl 24, of course.
I've always been ambivalent about the 22K. It was developed pre-WWII, before we had a lot of choices in .22 caliber: 222, 223, etc. Most of those who like it say they find it extends the life of brass, and that one should not load the K-Hornet any faster than the Hornet. Also, you'll still have 1-16" twist, so you'll still be using 35-45 gr. bullets.
I don't have a Mdl 24 in Hornet, but I do have a Browning low wall, and I get just as many loads/brass as I do with my other varmint loads. So I'm happy. And I have .222, 223 and 220 Swift if I need more oomph.
Of course, those aren't Mdl 24s....hmmmm....
