Been thinking about the Savage 24 chambered in a .22 Hornet center-fire. I've been doing a little research, on the cartridge, and apparently it fills the gap between the .22 Magnum and the .222/.223. Set me to wondering how many folks on here had 24s chambered in this round. Also what gauge shotgun barrel they were paired up with, and what kind of field/woods hunting adventures you've had with the .22 Hornet. I'll bet Odell can tell us the complete run down on all of the .22 Hornet variants of Savage 24s.I'm thinking I want one. Big Kelley probably has one of two in his arsenal! Anybody else got one? I'm intrigued by it...and ready to be educated! Tell me everything.

24V Series D 22hornet/20 24F-12T 22hornet/12 with chokes 24F 22hornet/20 fixed and 22hornet/12 fixed and chokes
Overall it's a pretty rare cartridge in the 24 line up. I have seen a few rechambered to the 22K hornet so be careful in what you buy and shoot.

I went to a gun show in Dallas Tx. yesterday a vendor had a 24V 22hornet/20. Asking $695.00, it looked real clean. Little to rich for me.

There are lots (millions?) of posts on the web concerning the Hornet cartridge. One of the oldest and most successful cartridge ever. I have a Browning low wall in that caliber, and have had several others, since sold.
Yeah, Kelly just pointed out a combo on gunbroker that sold for $750? Crazy.

I have never shot the 22 Hornet, I like what I see about the round. I know where a Mod 24F in 22H is for sale. Has anybody used this model? Are they worth spending $500 on? Thx

$500, judging from what I see, is about $50-75 more than most....except Hornet seems to go for more. If it's in good shape, I don't think you're paying too much. No bargain, but neither too much.

Thx TexasBad, did you buy the .22 Hornet, and if so, we'd love to hear more about it. You've probably done a little shooting with it by now. What do you think?

Sidewinder, I have not as of yet. It's still out there. I believe I'd try to talk the seller down $50 - $75 dollars and take it home with me. I paid $525 for a 24V in .357mag/20ga. earlier this year...and have not regretted it. If you get it, let us know all of the details...how it shoots, game bagged with it, and how you like it. Good luck.
