I Have Shot many Deer with my O/U Model 24, When it doesn't miss fire. I would recommend this 30-30 to any one. I have been reading all the [posts] on here about possible fixes to my delema. I have a 24v series B with the 30-30/ 20 gauge. have never had an issue with the 20 gauge until recent. the 30-30 miss fires probably 80% of the time, unless I use Hornady's. if I use any other brand it is certain that it will miss fire. now this year the 20 gauge has started to miss fire. I have read about replacing the hammer assembly. but unfortunately can not find one available.. any suggestions??

I would fixup 4 or 5 rounds that were just primer caps and see if the firing pins are making good strikes, if not try this fix www.cylindersmith.com/savage24/misfire.html It is also possible that the firing pins may be worn out.

Clean the internals at the hammer with CLP and lube after, then look at the hammer spring,(check for spec) then go from there with testing.
