Hi all,
New member here and new official 24 nut.
When growing up in the great Pacific Northwest, my father gave to my brother and I each a .22/.410 24. I loved mine but after resettling in N. ID I always wanted a .30/30 x 20ga. and a .22 x 20ga. camper. I now have relatively recently acquired both and can't wait to use them.
My technical question is the following: What was the manufacturer of the rear folding leaf sight on a 24V series B? Mine has a Lyman. I ask because I have a bit of an OCD thing with keeping original parts with my guns, even if I temporarily swap them out for other replacements. For example, I have my grandfather's Remington 14 that I've put glow-sights on but have kept and labeled the originals in a zip-lock bag in the gun safe.
Thanks for all your help!
Christine

Welcome, I can't answer your question. Hang in there, somebody who can will eventually reply. I like your OCD thing, I'm the same way. Take care, David

If I may answer your question, Lyman was the producer of all the folding rear sight and the front sights other than the barrel band front sights as far as I know, the barrel band/sight was produced by Savage.
I have a few 24V's and they all have 'Lyman' stamped on the folding rear sight.
I can pretty much verify that Lyman was the original Manufacturer of the folding read sight for Savage because around 2005, I purchased 3 brand new 24V's in 30-30 over 20 that were 1972 vintage in cosmoline still, and in the original boxes, and all 3 of them had the barrel band front sight and a Lyman folding rear sight.
Incidentally Lyman still makes that folding rear sight today in several heights if anyone should need one as OEM for a 24.
