I've got what I assume is a savage 24f its a 22lr/20 ga with a synthetic stock. It has a rail on top that I assume is for scope mounting. My question is what scope mounts or rings does it take.

The dove tail on the barrel is made for rimfire rifle rings. Center fire rifle scope rings will be to big.

It is a rail to which a scope base is to be mounted. Check the spacing on the screw holes and find a weaver style base that fits that hole spacing. You should be able to find one for rimfire rings if that's what you want to use.

My 24V required a Weaver #74 scope base to be attached to the flat rail. I would assume that the 24F would take the same one, but you know what happens when you assume.

I used a pair of Dovetail to Weaver 2 piece mounts , Had to tighten them down uber tightly to get them to grip the rails though . But...
Having said that , They seem to be holding up fine , Not had any problems with the scope shifting of losing zero .
All the best fellas .
Andy .
