Hello people,
I found your site here some time back researching a Savage 24c I was buying. I found what I was looking for. That was July just yesterday I was able to buy this gun... Its a 24c-DL in 22 Mag/20ga and it was quite a surprise! I had been conversing with a non gun person since July and this was the reason for my surprise. It was a pleasant surprise as you know the DL is a might nicer than 24c (Campers special) I expected. She also did not know there was a difference between 22LR and Magnum.
Anyhow, I have been around the forums on line for many years and am a member on a few always as CW cause that's me! I see a few faces here I recognize form other forums and its good to see friendly faces! I have worked in the firearms industry for nearly 30 years now. I live in CT and being here have had the opportunities to spend much time in many of the manufacturers who are here abouts! I was in the Savage plant in Mass once, maybe 25 years ago. I am a pistol instructor for private citizens and local law enforcement. I am a reloader since I was a boy standing at my fathers side at the loading bench.
I have wanted a 22/410 since I was a young man and hunted with a uncle who had one in Tennite. It seemed perfect to me, shot gun when the squirrel/rabbit was moving or in light brush and the 22 rifle for the ''sniping'' head shots. Well it took me over twenty years to find the one I wanted. MANY ''ratty'' guns passed thru my fingers. Most where hi priced for what they where. Then one day I was on GB and saw the gun I had to have... I had just sold two Savage 300 rifles and had a little extra ''ching'' so I splurged on myself. I had my beautiful 22/410 with walnut stocks and 80% of its case colors visible on the receiver. It was a little hi priced, but we struck a deal and I had my long wanted savage.
Here is my 22/410:
