Just found a Savage model 24 with no letter designation at a local gun shop. I put a downpayment on it and will pick it up in two weeks. Sweet find all metal in great shape. Stock has usual used markings on it, but in good shape. Got price down to $495, nice.
They also had a Marlin 22/410 double trigger on the rack for $1500. I'm guessing a mod 90 (didn't look that close), however it looked to be in great shape. Opened well, trigger sound.
Anyone have any experience with one?
If my tax return is good, I may have to go look a lot closer.

That's about the going rate for Marlin Model 90 combos these days.
The Marlin Model 90 combo came out in 1940 and was really the only competition to the Stevens Model 22-410 which was released in 1939. The vast majority of the Model 90 guns were .22lr over .410, but they did produce less than 250 guns total in both .22 hornet over .410 and .218 bee over 410 according to Brophy's Marlin Book. There was also about 20 or less R&D experimental guns chambered in .30-30 over 20 gauge. The Marlin Model 90 combos only lasted until 1942 when all commercial sales of firearms ceased because of WW2 war production. They were dropped from Marlin's line when things resumed in 1946.

Thank you Odell, I have done quite a bit of research since I posted this. I'm pretty sure I need secure that M90 if it is still there this weekend and after I get a much closer look.
