As with many here, the shotgun barrel on my 24C shoots about 6-7" low, compared to my .22LR barrel. This is the solution I came up with, first I painted the front sight with the brightest orange nail polish that I could find. I then used a small file to make the rear sight notch deeper and slightly wider. I rezeroed the .22LR barrel so that it was dead on with just the very tip showing in the base of the rear sight notch. Then I started holding the front sight higher and higher until the POI was the same as the .22LR barrel. Luckily mine ended being right where the base of the front sight blade transitioned into the shoulder below it, which gave me a good refererence point. It pulls up suprisingly fast for wing shots and I trust it to about 50 yards for slugs. Luckily, the windage was not off between my two barrels. I got the idea from the sighting system for the M203 grenade launcher from my time in service. Sight picture for .22LR barrel. My actual sight picture puts the tip a little deeper, but I was having trouble taking the picture. Sight picture for 20ga shot and slugs. When the shoulder below the sight blade is level with the top of the rear sight, I'm dead on. It was incredibly hard to take these photos, but hopefully they explain my system better than my writing.

Good thinking!!
Most look to adjust change or alter REAR site. Way to go thinking OUTSIDE the box!!

You could get a feel for whether it would work or not without modifying your sight. Just hold your front sight high and see if it helps your POI before you start filing.Good luck.

I tried figuring up some kind of sighting arrangement like that when I first got my 24C, but I couldn't hold consistent groups. I've thought about gently milling some material out of the barrel band on top of the shotgun barrel, and then shimming underneath on mine, but I am deathly afraid of ruining something... When I bought it, it was shooting about 12" low with slugs at 25yd. Even after shimming as much as will fit under the band and wedging as much as will go between the barrels, it's still about 4" low at 25yd, and still too ridiculous to compensate for with hold at 50. I'm not sure what else to do. It makes me sad, because I really want to like that gun, but I just can't seem to get the shotgun barrel to perform. The .22 barrel likes to try to put them through the same hole (if ya don't let it heat up and start stringing), but that darn shotgun barrel..... Hrm. I guess if it ain't shooting, I've got to do /something/.....

Nice, LB. If you're older (ahem, like me) or swap between rifles often, I'd also consider putting tiny dots of polish bracketing the very bottom of the rear notch and larger ones on the top as a reminder; if windage adjustment is needed, I'd put the shotty dot only on the side toward which I'd drift the front sight. I tend to put a piece of masking tape on my stocks with the distance at which each rifle's zero'd and/or hold-over required at longer ranges.
Thanks for the pics; I agree, like a 203 in some ways. Dale

That's very cool Logan. Especially if you're good enough with the system to be wingshooting with it! Way to go, man.
