I don't think will help do anything but drive up prices.

Maybe this will help. I bought a Savage 24 a few months ago. It was the model .22LR/.410, with the receiver side selector. It had a firing pin issue, but a new one came with it, which I replaced. The wood was in excellent condition. The bluing was pretty much shot, and there was some barrel and receiver pitting. The sights were fine, and the barrels were soldered together. Shoots fine on both barrels. Ejectors were ok, and did what they are designed to do. Price? $75.00 cash.

Nice one, sidewinder. Just got mine trading for some work. They were asking $350. Model 24 Field Grade P series .22 LR/20ga. Pretty nice condition, a well used stock. 90% blueing, very happy with it. Gotta take some photos.

I just bought a 24S-E 22lr/20ga for $425 last week. Seller was firm on the price. Maybe not the best deal but 99% bluing and only a couple small stock scratches. Front sight screw and stock screw slightly buggered but the rest looks almost new. No serial and barrels are soldered. Walnut stock with a lovely curly grain in the forearm. I've had a 24C for years and this is my second 24. Still looking for a 357 or 30-30 over 20ga.
