Thanks for the response Capt. We were just both typing at the same time, I updated my post above to add that my gun is a side-lever 24SE. According to Numrich schematics, the trigger has a different geometry then the tang-lever models. It is also a different procedure to get the trigger assy out of the action. Any comment on this?

Afraid I can't help you. Mine is a top lever.

No problem, Capt...I figured how to get it apart and back together. My trigger sear and hammer notch do not have the rough surface that yours had, but they are as dry as toast. I'm just going to touch up the mating surfaces with a little 1000 grit paper on a glass plate and add some moly grease. I'll be that just lubrication alone will drop the trigger pull down by a few pounds!

So did that help? Inquiring minds want to know.

I haven't been able to find any 7/32" dia. brass or aluminum rod stock locally to make a hammer slave pin for reassembly. I just bought the rod on EBAY. Will be another week or so before I have a chance to polish the trigger/sear and put it all back together.
Actually might just try replacing the trigger and hammer parts with new unused stock. Looking closely at the trigger in particular, the sharp edge at the end of the engagement area is no longer a straight edge...it's pretty chewed up and uneven. I'll try stoning that area first and moly lube to see results. If it's no improvement, I'll try the new parts.

"slave pin" I make them out of an old drill bit when I need one. Usually all is needed is to file a nick in it and break it at the nick.
