Can someone please explain to me how to "snap" the forend on a 1965... 22/410
Maybe I'm missing something but it doesn't want to snap on. A step by step would be greatly appreciated. Barrel open/closed? Special process?
Thank you!

If it dosent snap on it may be bent or missing screws.. I don't have any pics here to show but there is a lil step on the barrel and the bent piece is on the forend that sits on that "step" as you close the forend.
Barrel on the frame locked up. Will not work is open at all.

Make sure the pin that holds the little S-squiggle piece in place hasn't come out and left it cocked sideways, or it won't snap on right. My 24C is routed off-center in there and is bad for that. Also, I think the foreends are fitted to the guns at the factory, and if this is a replacement foreend, you may have to do a little fitting. If it feels like it is taking crazy excessive pressure to snap on, you may have to take some metal off the end of the squiggle. If it fits too loose, it won't stay on, and you may be able to use some strong pliers or somesuch to carefully flatten the S piece just a bit to lengthen it some. Note that I have never tried this, so if it is hardened metal, it could just break instead of bending. I would be surprised if it's hardened, though, but if it is you could probably aneal it in a toaster oven or maybe with a torch (maybe), bend it, and then re-harden it with a torch and a quench in some old motor oil. You'd probably have to de-slag it and hit it with some cold blue to keep it from rusting after that. Instructions to install foreend, if things are fitted good: 1. Things should look something like this (though preferably cleaner and less truck-gun-like) if all the parts are there. 2. While your cat sniffs curiously and begs you for petting, slide the foreend over the receiver like this. Note how the S-squiffle-thing is ready to catch the hook. 3. While your cat tries to eat your face, begin to press the foreend up such that the S-squiggle-thing engages the hook. 4. There will be a moment of resistance, as you scream in pain while the cat pulls on your beard, and then the foreend will snap into place. Voila. If it doesn't work like that, yeah, check for missing parts and/or fitment issues. Good luck!
