OK, I like 24s....but that Mdl 24SE has to be the butt-ugliest....or at least in the top 5.....of all Mdl 24s. Was that made towards the end of the run?

I believe the 24SE models were made in the 60's or early 70's. Savage sure down graded the 24 with this series. If not ugly close to it, but it is still a Savage 24! IMHO the best of the "real" 24's/Stevens 22-410's where the early ones from the 40's thru most of the 50's.

Now vancmike, that is a fine looking Sav. 24J. I like the 22mag over 20ga combination. The price is a little high for me when including the usual $75-80 for FFL transfer and shipping. But, never the less, it's a "good looker".

Ugly or not, my S-C is my best-shooting model 24.... Great regulation and barrels soldered the whole way down. Maybe I got lucky with mine, but... Just sayin'.
