Opened my May 2015 Guns magazine late last night and came across a two page article including photos relating to the older classic Model 24, specifically the .22/.410. The article's author, Holt Bodinson, did a nice job with the article being mostly positive as it relates to the .22/.410 model. There is also some very limited discussion on other 24 models. His only complaint related to the original factory rear sight. He described the rear sight as a cheap, flimsy stamping that fitted in a dovetail smaller than standard so it was very difficult to replace. He also did specifically reference this site as the place to go for more in depth information on the Steven/Savage 24s.

Guess I'll have to buy my every-10-years-or-so Guns Magazine.
I keep thinking I should post photos of my original Mdl 24, bought in 1957. He's right about the rear sight: I lost the original sheet metal ramp soon after I bought it, but by judicious bending of the sight, I 'adjusted' mine to impact at about 40 yds. Couple of years ago, I found another ramp that fit and while it doesn't shoot any more accurately, it at least looks complete!

+1 for having to look for a copy I hardly ever buy the gun rags anymore. They went from pages and pages of beutiful guns and useful info to a couple of "they paid for so gotta be nice" articles and page after page of crap advertisement. But that article might just be worth getting ahold of.
