Hi to all the 223 Savage 24 owners out there.
I'm in Sydney and a gun shop guy recommended some new 223 ammo (55Gn Sierra GameKing SpBT loaded by ADI under OSA Buffalo River, with a fox picture on the box). He said "it's so accurate out of the box I don't bother reloading anymore". We've all heard it before, but this time I'm extremely impressed.
I took my 223/12G Savage 24 with 1-6x scope to the 50M indoor range. Shooting from the bipod (I'm no benchest guru), a three shot group was 1/2 MOA with all shots touching. So I backed it up by doing it again after the barrel cooled, with a similar 3 shot 1/2 MOA group. I'll try this ammo at 100 and 200M next time I'm at the outdoor range.
I don't know weather the Buffalo River ammo or the 55Gn Sierra GameKing SpBT projectile were to thank for this performance. This ammo seems to be flooding into Australian stores, don't know about availability in the US.
I have been reloading 55-64gn projectiles and experiencing major frustration with poor groups from the slow 1-14 twist. So I'm keen to hear if anybody else has had experience with, or could test the 55Gn Sierra projectiles.
Accurate factory ammo that worked in most 223 Savage 24s would be fantastic. I'll try to post some photos of the ammo box and groups soon.

I have a M24 that shoots like that but the tough part is getting the powder stains off the target before I photograph it to show the guys.... AND so it goes

My .30-30 24V is also extremely accurate, as long as I let the barrel cool between shots. From a very solid bench rest with the scope turned up to 9x, it has put them into a group the size of a quarter at 100 yards. Of course I can't shoot it nearly that well under normal food-shooting conditions, but yanno. That's with the Federal power-shock 170gr, though it shoots well with the 170gr Remington too (though sometimes fails to ignite the harder primers).

I'guessing a good part of the Mdl 24's accuracy can be attributed to the secure connection to the lower barrel (regulating the two barrels? that's another issue). My 22LR/.410 is accurate, despite its primitive sights and my .222/20 is scary-accurate even with its iron sights.
As you know, your .223 will be accurate with 45 to 55 gr. bullets. And Sierra bullets are rightfully known for their accuracy. I've hand-loaded them for years; can't tell you anything about Buffalo River.
