Hello fellas .
Can I please ask a quick question please?
Ive got an old (1968) Savage 24SD , And am having problems finding ways to Mount a scope , due to the odd sized rails , Which seem to be a lil under 9 mil ,and tapers as it gos further along towards the front sight , So was thinking instead of using the rails , could I use a Benjamin or Sheridan mount , that clamps onto the barrel instead?
Has anyone else done this? and if so , how did you get on?
Many thanks in advance for all and any advice offer guys .
All the very best fellas .
Andy .

Sakoluvr .
Still having a problem with finding a set of mounts that are working out for me mate . So far , everything Ive tried has not been able to go down small enough .
The main problem seems to be that the rails are really narrow , and not the same , they taper as they go along the barrel .
The widest part of the rail is just in front of the breech , which is just (Just) over 9mil , and the rail narrows down to just under 9mil at the nest point where I would like to place a mount , approx 5 inchs down towards the muzzle .
Are you quite sure these adpators from Brownells will fit mate? And I seem to be having a problem with ordering stuff from them away? dont think they ship outside the US? (Nothings ever easy is it??)
Any and all advice is welcome guys .
All the best fellas .
Andy .

hi, i just used high solid .22 mounts and ground thru the intergal base on them and they are really great. inexpensive, easy, acccurate & good looking, too. i'm new here & don't know how to post photos yet, but i'd like you to see them

Well , I tried a pair of 3/8 Dovetail to Weaver 2 piece mounts .
And couldnt get them to go small enough?? Seems the rails are just (JUST) over 9 mil at the widest point , Just in front of the breech , And taper ever so slightly as they go along the barrels towards the front sight , At which point Id like to mount the scope , The rails are just under 9mil .
Ive probably spent as much on mounts now as I did on the rifle!!!
Would welcome any more ideas please fellas?
Al the very best .
Andy .

Guys .
Scrap the above post by me! Turns out if you really really tighten the mount down , They WILL infact go to a size small enough to fit!
Hope this helps someone .
All the best fellas .
