I'm looking for a 410 insert for a .20 gauge barrel. I just found out that these existed. Are they good/bad for the barrel? Where do you get them? I'm in Canada but it's just a part so should be able to get it shipped here. Thoughts?

Savage's original barrel insert (the Savage Four-tenner) is a great option. I don't believe they make them new anymore, but there is usually some online from $50-100. They came in either 12 gauge or 20 gauge so make sure you get the right size insert.
There are other companies who manufacture them, but that could be hit or miss. I like the Four-tenner because they work and fit properly in the Model 24, and it is longer than just a chamber insert like a skeeter conversion. No worries about barrel damage with the Savage.
It is just a part so I don't see why it can't be shipped to Canada, but as an internet lawyer I recommend you check with the proper authorities first.

Lothar Walther in Germany make the chamber type, looks like a 4 inch chrome 20 gauge shell. # 6's pattern fine out of modified choke at 20 yards. It comes with a 6 inch hard nylon combination cleaning rod/ extractor stick ! I paid about US $60 some years ago.

Found one. Like new, I paid $100 shipped. Will try it this weekend on some bunnies. I will compare the pattern with my 24 "S" .410, if I like it, I'll sell my "S" model and stick with my camper models.

These are really well made inserts and you can also get them in rifle calibers. www.gunadapters.com/I've got the 20g, 45lc/410g and .22 adapters for my H&R 12g and they work good. The pattern could be a little better for the 410, but i can still take bunnies at 15 yards. Hope this helps

I just got one of the Short Lane adapters myself (last week), and it works just fine for the 20 gauge barrel of my 24S. I haven't patterned it out yet to see how good it works, but if crashphoenix can take bunnies out to 15 yards, then I expect it'll do the trick for me as well.

I wasn't thrilled with the pattern on a #4 shot. Need to aim quite high to avoid peppering meat. Anyway, it got me a nice 4 rabbit field stew.....so I'll keep it. The way to a mans heart is his stomach, that insert left a nice taste in my mouth. I'll still keep my 24S in .410 though.....who was I kidding, I can never part with any of 24's.
