M y neighbor gave me this Savage 24F-12T for plowing his driveway all last winter. It was in kinda rough shape, but I cleaned it all up and it looks good now. Can anyone here give me any info on this gun? Top barrel is 22 Hornet and bottom is 12 ga. with screw in choke, its a "Turkey" model from what I've found out. Pretty cool gun, never had a combo gun like this before.

You are a "lucky Duck"! I believe that's a rare bird. Others on this forum will have more knowledge about this than I.

It is 1990 or newer, the 24V transitioned to the 24F in 1990 after Savage came out of Chapter 11. I never followed the 24F's, but there is a 1990 catalog on the savage24.com board with the specs for your gun.

very nice gift--the hornet is a popular combo but surprisingly not a lot of people like the "F" series--go figure

Thanks for the info on it. Yeah, from what little research I've done, it seems to be pretty rare and I can't believe some of the prices that they've gone for on some gun auction sites. Most were old postings, but still went pretty high compared to others I've seen. I put the scope on it, the one that came on it was old and beat up. The inside of the barrel is very nice and clean. My neighbor told me he barely ever shot it and wasn't into hunting anymore it sat in a closet wasn't even in a case or anything it was loaded with dust but I cleaned it up really good and it shoots just fine. I do like it, maybe I'll try and take a turkey with it one day. It's not the lightest gun, but I think it's pretty unique looking. I thought that camo was a home made job until I googled it and saw some other pictures, guess it came from the factory like that.

I believe they only made the camo stock/forend for a year or 2, then went to all black stocks only on the 24F.

I don't know how long your neighbor's drive is, but that is awesome pay. The .22 Hornet (when reloaded) is extremely versatile.
How come my neighbors aren't like that? Congratulations on your good fortune !

Hey I have one just like it 12 gauge' 22 hornet. Fun gun. Uses Mossberg screw in chokes. Ser #F8008** It is one of my favorite walking around guns. It also sits in a gun rack on my ATV when I am exploring my property. Accounted for a lot of critters including several Coyotes. I would never part with it.

I love my 24F! You will learn to love yours too!
Mine is 30-30 over 12 gauge, with a plain black stock. I use if to hunt turkey on land that is also rife with feral hogs. I've killed two turkeys with the 12 gauge barrel.
The 24F is a bit heavy, but it is a tough gun and very versatile.
