Hey, tpm. New member here, originally from Cambridge (Galt), so I've been to that show many years back. I'm in Alberta, looking for a 22 over 20...can't believe how crazy the prices have gotten on these guns. They used to go begging at a couple hundred bucks. Any Canucks that can point me at a good condition wood stock model, let me know! DT

I believe that the "shadow bidders... the seller's friend, that is driving up the price for his friend on the online auctions, has grossly inflated what appears to be the selling price on the Savage 24s. It works so that the friend... in case he happens to win the bid, is let off the hook. The seller pays the auction their fee. They think it's a legitimate sale. Others, that have Savage 24s for sale, then look at the auctions and can't believe these guns are selling for such high prices. So, they then quote these "completed sale prices" so-called, which are not really completed sale prices, and think their gun should bring twice it's fair market value also. It's a "falsely" over inflated price...and yes, a few "suckers" are paying those prices, which in turn, make the inflated prices look legitimate! Barnum Baily said, "A sucker is born every minute"! Buyer beware! Also, many "sellers" see a mint condition gun and think theirs is worth the same price, just because they saw the mint condition, or unfired version, sell for high bucks. Don't overpay guys... we all are willing to pay a fair market price... but, not a King's ransom!
