Too rich for my blood. www.gunbroker.com/item/825113114Aftermarket mounts or factory that I just don't remember? Certainly some BS in the description. cheap birch is a "higher grade of wood"?

Odd that it's got rust. At least there are no BS claims of special fancy wood. This of course is how Gunbroker works. Guy sees gun price. always feels his gun is better, so prices his higher. And this repeats over and over again. The fact that they were over priced and never actually sold doesn't matter. There was a Freedom Arms revolver (over priced) on Gunbroker for almost ten years. I also watched a Remington Rollingblock that was listed for five years (very over priced for it's condition. Asking $550, at the time similar condition guns were in the high 2's to mid 3's). These over priced guns helped drive up the price of every other similar gun listed, till eventually they weren't over priced anymore. As folks I used to know said, "You can't pay too much. just too soon."

I'm not really familiar with this model, but on both, the stocks appear to be poor attempts at refinishing. And, of course, the birch (or whatever) wood is nowhere close to looking like walnut or any other better wood.
Or did they look like that from the factory?

]When you try to stain them, they can take it very unevenly and you get blotches. I'd assume over time that oils and oxidation of same could make them look very muddy. Birch stocks can be pretty. I did a chromium trioxide job (nasty stuff) on a birch M14 stock I had and it really made it pop. IIRC I tried it on my 24c stock... not so much. 357 Max #2 is back up... $1500 this time, still no bids.

Wow, the buyer must have been wanting to fill a hole in their collection really bad. Good for him/her - its only $$$ and a month from now, the money will have been absorbed but they own the gun and get to use it. How cool is that ?
Very versatile round, the .357 Maximum.
